{"id":159,"date":"2013-05-31T16:26:24","date_gmt":"2013-05-31T06:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.norakinnunen.com.au\/?p=159"},"modified":"2017-01-01T11:10:10","modified_gmt":"2017-01-01T01:10:10","slug":"long-time-no-see","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/norakinnunen.com.au\/?p=159","title":{"rendered":"Long Time, No See?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a title=\"Long Time, No See?\" href=\"http:\/\/community.long-time-no-see.org\/?page_id=81\" target=\"_blank\">Long Time, No See?<\/a> project is an evolving public participation artwork about long term visions for community.<\/p>\n<p>I will be part of the panel discussion at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.balance-unbalance2013.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Balance-Unbalance International Conference<\/a> on 1st June 2013, in Noosa, where the panel will be discussing this ongoing project in greater detail.<\/p>\n<p>About Long Time, No See?:<\/p>\n<p>The project seeks to engage communities through active collaboration, to imagine new pathways for sustain-able long term futures. Participants in the process are asked to take part in a guided walkshop through their local community to observe their urban surroundings, to trigger an awareness of their personal relationship with their environment. The participants&#8217; role is to communicate their observations and responses which become the raw data for the larger artwork, while also\u00c2\u00a0being prompted to examine their own inspirations as a catalyst\u00c2\u00a0for developing a positive social and environmental awareness.<\/p>\n<p>The project is run in conjunction with the roll-out of the National Braodband Network, beginning in the Brisbane suburb of Aspley.\u00c2\u00a0 My participation was at the trial stage of the workshops and walkshops in Aspley. This project is ongoing, with data ollected from participants\u00c2\u00a0being fed into an app, which will develop\u00c2\u00a0as a moving, shifting artwork.<\/p>\n<p>I\u00c2\u00a0found the\u00c2\u00a0interesting\u00c2\u00a0part of\u00c2\u00a0my participation\u00c2\u00a0the collaborative process which has an embedded\u00c2\u00a0futuring perspective. Although not explicitly\u00c2\u00a0communicated,\u00c2\u00a0I became aware\u00c2\u00a0through the process that the driver\u00c2\u00a0is\u00c2\u00a0the care structures\u00c2\u00a0embedded in futuring,\u00c2\u00a0and that we were prompted by the process to think about\u00c2\u00a0and investigate these elements.<\/p>\n<p>The project team&#8217;s creative director is artist Dr Keith Armstrong, and he\u00c2\u00a0is joined by:\u00c2\u00a0interaction designer Dr Gavin Sade, sound artist Prof Roger Dean, writer Linda Carroli, designer Robert Henderson, software developer Petros Nyfantis, research assistance Eric Lin and curator Lubi Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Long Time, No See? project is an evolving public participation artwork about long term visions for community.
